NEWS (002) - Jabrock Partner With The Silver Spitfire For The Longest Flight

How about completely re-building an original WWII Spitfire then be the first to fly it around the globe…? This is exactly what the team of the Silver Spitfire have done, and they are currently in the middle of their mission to fly around the world.

Jabrock have been lucky to support the team in their journey. Joining them at their launch and making sure they have the right shades for the job.

On the 5th of August 2019 the Silver Spitfire left the Goodwood Aerodrome to embark on its trip across the globe, expecting to cover 27,000 miles and visiting over 30 regions of the world during its journey.

The exciting part of our partnership with the Silver spitfire team is that the original wood used to craft the Spitfire propeller was originally a form of Jabroc® wood in WWII. This was due to the exceptional strength and light weight properties of the material.

The two pilots Matt jones and Steve brooks had to undergo extreme survival training in the event the aircraft suffered any faults or failures mid-flight. The design of the Spitfire is now over 75 years old and although iconic in its design, they had to be prepared for any event as it was never designed to fly across oceans and the distances they expect to cover in their mission.

The mission is expected to take over three months and we will keep you updated on their progress. So, stay tuned for further updates.
